Christmas School Holidays

Posted by dodo

How exciting! the children are breaking-up from school today. Scarlett has already collected little Nicholas and Carol from their primary schools, and is driving down to Berkshire to collect Holly from boarding school. The first verse points out ‘The Holly and the Ivy, When they are both full-grown, Of all the trees that are in the wood, The holly bears the crown’, the crown being symbolic of Christ the King of Heaven, The second verse recalls ‘The holly bears the blossom, As white as lily flower, And Mary bore sweet Jesus, To be our sweet Saviour’.
